American Home Assurance Company, AIG UAE

I bought a travel insurance for my family during my visit to the USA in June 2024. My flight ( Delta airlines) from Buffalo to New York got cancelled for some reason though bad weather was one of them and air traffic control delay was another reason though nothing was told by the airline company. They only offered a refund. However due this unexpected flight disruption, I had to endure a lot of travel inconveniences including cancelleation of my Amtrak train and other tickets. After arrival to UAE when I claimed, AIG is refusing to my claims saying that flight cancellation reason was not valid.. This was not stated in their policy documents provided to us and now they find a new reason out of the blue to deny. This is a utter fraud and please refrain from this insurance company since they are cheating the customers.

DO NOT USE AIG TRAVEL INSURANCE. Having seen how many other one star reviews there are, I think it is pretty clear AIG specialise in not paying out for anything. My case was pretty clear cut - Emirates canceled our flight, no rebooking, no hotel offered, no food voucher etc. We had to book new flights on Etihad to get back to Dubai, plus additional hotel stay, taxis, meals. Somehow, AIG claim this is not covered ( we booked their most expensive option available for the trip). I can only repeat, do not use AIG. If there was a medical emergency or similar, you would be left alone for sure.

Would not recommend! I bought it 3 times and thought it’s a good insurance until I actually needed to use it. Bought the Gold policy for Bali with insured luggage. My luggage for delayed over a day, and by policy I should get 500 USD per insured and almost a month now I’m trying to get any reimbursement from AIG! They will do anything not to pay you. So I wouldn’t relay on them if some emergency actually happens. I am definitely gonna use more reliable insurance company even tho I’m UAE resident.

We had purchased a travel insurance last month. Our trip was shortened because of an emergency. Submitted the required documents and the claim was approved faster than I ever imagined. Special thanks to Kingsly for constant support and updates he provided. Kept me in the loop on what will happen next. Now waiting for the money to be credited. Exceptional quality service... hardly u find this with an insurance company... keep up the good job 👏

Bought the travel guard on several occasions, thought it would give me peace of mind with whatever happens on my trip whether delays or damage on my belongings, but you will never know until you actually file for your claims. My bag was damaged beyond repair on my last trip and thought I could get up to 500$ with the Gold Plan I bought but they said they can only give me 50$ ( not ever a quarter of the value of my bag). I have no choice but to accept it as it will not be worth it to argue on something they already have a fixed answer. Funny thing is, it been over a month but no 50$ has been credited to my account even after they have called and verified my account number. I don't want to waste my time calling them ask for my 50$. But never again will I buy this "useless insurance policy".
